Fishing and Festival

The YLakeland blog is the place to go to learn about weekend events, but every now and then one lands on my desk.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has set this weekend (April 4th and 5th) as Free Fishing Weekend. Everyone can fish is public fresh waters this weekend without needing a license That doesn’t mean you can drop M-80s in Lake Hollingsworth. While you may not need a license, all other fishing rules apply.

Why isn’t the commission’s acronym FFWCC?

The Explorations V Children’s Museum has their 27th Annual Children’s Festival this Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.

The big draw are the Lowry Park Zoo’s show “Zoo Adventures” at 10:30 and noon, but kids get a bag of goodies, bubble play, spin-art Frisbees, an inflatable slide, and get to explore a fire truck.

Of course, the museum and other special exhibits will be open to everyone admitted.

Adults get in free if they can convince a kid to accompany them. The kids have to cough up $4 each.

  1. “Why isn’t the commission’s acronym FFWCC?”

I think that’s a question that answers itself.
