More Time, More Crime

I mentioned yesterday that LPD is producing their own online crime maps. You can see Asst. Chief Bill LePere’s post about it here. He’s very kind. I just pointed out a couple of things. He has a creative and quick team.

I first produced the maps only because Asst. Chief LePere thought to make the data available to the public. We have a pretty open police department in Lakeland. That’s something to you don’t see enough in this world.

I was happy to make the maps. I worked as a cartographer for a bit in my younger days. It’s nice to use the new tools.

I’m not stopping though. I mentioned yesterday I wanted to produce maps for my own site to finish a year’s worth. That should be early May. I’ll continue posting them on Lakeland Crime.

However, here at Lakeland Local I’ll just post links to the maps.
