Clause? What Clause?
Posted by Chuck Welch on July 24, 2007 8:41 AM | Permalink | Comments (1)
Has this USF Lakeland information been previously reported?
Unless "substantial" construction money is poured into the project by June, the Lakeland property could go back to the Oklahoma company that donated it to USF.In 2004, the Williams Corp. donated about 500 acres along Interstate 4. The company, however, could exercise a clause that allows it to take back the property if construction doesn't progress, Goodman said. -- Tampa Tribune
What kind of progress? Do we need a building in place? Students attending classes? A road?
Why not pull a trailer onto the property and put student services? When I went to college that's how far away our student records were from campus.

I check in on this blog occasionally, as I live in Las Vegas but I have lived in Lakeland and Winter Haven during most of my early years. there has always been some jealousy of Lakeland by East Polk because of the type of industry or growth Lakeland has. Now that East Polk is growing as well , the jealousy seems to be more apparent. The Fact is even though the USF campus will serve East Polk, central Florida and beyond it is in the City Limits of Lakeland and that makes it a Lakeland campus. There is nothing wrong with being "Lakeland Proud" The whole area will benefit from the campus.
